Dinnseanchas describes the topography of a place through its stories, myths and inhabitants. Hometree's Dinnseanchas project, which was funded by Creative Ireland's Creative Climate Action fund incorporated this way of seeing the landscape - a folk geography - as the starting point for its exploration of Ireland's western uplands. During the project, artists were embedded into 6 coastal communities to listen deeply to their experience of navigating climate change, de-population, and the complex web of socio-economic and agricultural policies through the lens of the dinnseanchas of each place. Join us for a conversation and a creative visual sharing that reflects on the process and brings some of these stories and perspectives to life.
